On the shores of the lake and within easy walking distance of the picturesque town of Huelgoat

THE BEGINNING

I began showing dogs when I was aged 11. Firstly with a Miniature Poodle and then with a Beagle which I won in a competition run by The Sun newspaper - well it was 1970!! Encouraged by the members of my local ringcraft class, I began to attend shows and it was with this young dog, Sired by Ch Dialynne Gamble, I had my first experience of showing at Crufts. Through helping at a number of local kennels I gained much experience of showing other breeds including Great Danes, Whippets and German Shorthaired Pointers.

My own interest in dogs continued with a move into the obedience ring and the training of several Border Collies. However, after having been involved in a serious car accident in 1980, the precision needed in the obedience ring proved too difficult, and I decided to search for a breed similar but smaller. Papillons fitted the bill!

My first Papillon 'Harry', bought at 12 months old from Sue Stanbury, is the dog from which most of the MELANGEL Papillons originate.

He gained his Stud Book Number 2474CG.

The day before he went to start his new life he mated Much ado about Me at Melangel to produce Melangel Dolly Dream Girl.
